We obtained high speed Internet connection 3/4 months ago and got a Worm on our machine. We got that issue resolved but have been getting Illegal Operations ever since and also a message after entering the Userid and Password; this message is MSCONFD is missing...I OK it but after just a couple operations, Explorer.exe and IE both crash.

I am running Windows 98 and IE 6. Just upgraded system to max RAM that motherboard will allow!

Please help, I need my computer to do important work!

Thanks,

Dawn

The MSCONFD file is part of the virus. It sounds like the file was deleted but the pieces that point to it in Windows weren't removed.

Go here:
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/trojan.bookmarker.html

and see what you can find.

Hope this helps!
