I have setup a network of five workstations and a server. The server was w2kpro and the workstations were wxppro.
My domain allowed me to change the access levels of my shares.

I have another small network setup without a server (peer-peer). When I look at my "sharing and security" portion of my resource, I don't have the options to add/setup user access.

I have tried to setup users in the workstation I want to share my drive on, but I can't seem to figure out how specify certain users.

Can anyone shed a little light on the subject for me??

If the workstations are XP, you have to disable Simple File Sharing to be able to choose the users, but I don't remember where you can do that )

Here is what I recommend. use everyone full control for all for your shares. then use NTFS permisions to regulate access.

if youa re on XP home, you can't do this by default, but a neat trick is boot into safe mode. there you have your full NTFS rights management!

open an explorer window (not IE)

tools / Folder options / view

very bottom, uncheck - simply file sharing.
