with the new cds coming out that install software without your permission via autoplay, I want to disable it. I know I have seen the option somewhere before but i can't seem to find it now. Anyone know?

Start regedit from Run then
System Key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\CDRom]
Value Name: Autorun
Data Type: REG_DWORD (DWORD Value)
Value Data: (0=disable, 1=enable)

OK. I'll try that. I thought there was an option to do it without editing the registry. I might be thinking of 98 though.

Thanks for the reply

Or, with XP you can:
1) Click Start, Run and enter GPEDIT.MSC
2) Go to Computer Configuration, Administrative Templates, System.
3) Locate the entry for Turn autoplay off and modify it as you desire.

Thats probably where I saw it. I don't think I checked there when I was last looking. Anyway, I did it though the registry and am happy now.
