If the power goes off in the house i have to clamber into the loft to turn on the server again! is there a way it will automatically come back on when the power does? or is there a way i can turn it on remotely?

thanks

Why don't you buy a UPS so that the server doesn't go down at all?

Check your BIOS. Some of the newer ATX motherboards have a setting to power the machine backon after a power outage.

Get one of "Homer's key pressing dipping birds" and put it next to the server. You have to hold an ATX power button for 5 secs to turn it off but just tap it to turn it on.
Leave the bird tapping and if the power goes off it will turn your server on. laugh

A UPS can also be a hardware saver, especially when a brown-out occurs wink
