after a week of blaming codec packs and a reload i
discovered that my sound was coming out flat because
my PC has decided that it wants my sub to play ALL
sounds anywhere near bass, which makes a mess of most
music.

now i HATE creatives software but like their cards, so i only
ever install drivers, not the mixer or audioHQ so im
wondering what could have made it redirect all the low
sounds without my say so, and more importantly:
how do i fix it?
Help!

it seems to happen with both the CD drivers and the latest
web ones

win2k sp4 + audigy, using the digital jack and a 5.1 5x00
decoder.

Well since you're using the digital jack I can't help, I only use the analog outputs in my Audigy cards wink

Using analog output, your Sub must have it's own builtin crossover. Perhaps the crossover in your sub is just not very good. It's not the card's fault.

Well I can tell you my 5.1's do work well in analog mode, it's the older Cambridge DTT2200 model. Works well for me. Of course Cambridge now has the newer Inspire line and the Megaworks line of speakers, I think they now have a 7.1 system, perhaps moving into the 8.1 arena soon too wink

The amp and speakers are the Inspire digital 5700 set.
I wasnt saying the card itself is at fault-
it was all PERFECT till about a month ago.
Tried all the updates and drivers, even gave in and
installed AudioHQ, still no good (

Its software im sure of it, but WHAT software
and how to stop it is beyond me.

Cant really have it in analogue without spending
money on cables i shouldnt have to, plus
that makes having a digital amp a waste of time too /
