I broke out my diablo 2 and put it on my system running XP Pro. It will work for a few minutes and then freeze for 10-30 seconds. I have the latest D2 patch and fairly recent ATI drivers. Indexing service is disabled. Has anyone else experienced this or know of a solution?

I'm not having this issue with D2:LOD and the latest beta patch, v1.10s.

I seem to recall hearing/reading about this issue with D2 but can't recall where I'd seen the issue.

Check this site, it has some great forums for D2.

Actually, I have found a solution for the problem. I am guessing there is some kind of defect on my cd. If I load everything up and start the game, then remove the cd from the drive, it works fine.

Copy all the MPQs to your HD, the game will not access them on the CD.

Won't I still need the cd to load the program?

I would make a copy of the disk and use Daemon Tools instead smile This is what I do so I don't scratch my original.
