RIS services

hi,
i want to setup a RIS windos 2000 server to store desktop images and to install them to the workstations that crashed.

can anyone guide me how to do it?

can RIS still work, if i don't have access to Acrive directory?

I think you only need DHCP.

SOmeone with more experience may have to help you with this. I am using Server 2003

You need to have a DHCP server running on your network and the network cards on the RIS clients need to be PXE compatible (I think).

I think you only need AD running if you want to join to Domain during install, I have a slipstresmed install with 2003 that joins the domain and adds the computer account to the AD.
