I have heard a lot of bad things about highpoint cards... Do you have any experience with them?

With the onboard ones, they gave me no issues. You could try Promise cards, those are good too.

I suppose you are referring to the onboard bios? The ones I h ave heard negative things about do not have the onboard bios.

The onboard Highpoint RAID allways seem to work well(last thing with I had with a Highpoint controller was a ABIT Slot A mainboard). I currently have a Promise Ultra 100 TX2 IDE controller. I have my Lite-on LTR-52246 connected to it. I works very well.

I am using 2 Promise cards, Ultra 100 TX2, and ulta 133 TX2. So far they have been great.
