Recommended Posts

ntcompatible.com will move next week to a new server

Here the specifications of the new machine:

Intel Dual Xeon 2GHz with hyperthreading

1GB ECC Ram

LSI Dual Channel Ultra320 SCSI Controller

2x Seagate SCSI harddisks (73GB each)

Intel e1000 Gigabit NIC

If you use a custom host file, please remove ntcompatible.com 64.246.24.75 as soon as possible.

Thanks,

Philipp

Yes, MajorGeeks and a few other sites are on the same server.

Thanks.

This server can do alot more traffic. Current server stats (CPU usage):

Code:
Cpu0 : 4.3% user, 1.9% system, 0.0% nice, 93.8% idleCpu1 : 4.6% user, 0.3% system, 0.0% nice, 95.1% idleCpu2 : 8.6% user, 1.5% system, 0.0% nice, 89.8% idleCpu3 : 5.2% user, 6.8% system, 0.0% nice, 88.0% idle

The Xeons are bored. Maybe someone can submit this site to Slashdot wink

What kind/version/brand of Unix (or variant) operating system is it running... just curious!

Debian 3.0 (installed remotely over the original Red Hat 9 installation)

What was/would the former single Pentium III 1ghz CPU w/ 512mb PC-133 SDRAM server you had here before pushing CPU-use wise under that same load (was it also running 3++ sites also as well like this one is?)??

The old server was only running NT/Linux Compatible and my company homepage. The average CPU usage was around 30-40%.

The main problem was the software installation (Red Hat 7.2 with Ensim):

1) PHP crashed random with memory errors (http://www.ntcompatible.com/thread23057-1.html)

2) Sometime Apache crashed during the logrotation reload at 4:00AM in the morning (http://forum.ev1servers.net/showthread.php?threadid=31746)

3) Updates may break the server (http://forum.ev1servers.net/showthread.php?threadid=25172)

4) Red Hat 7.2 end of life 12/31/03
