I have just installed win xp pro but my hard drive no longer shuts down automatically which it did with win millenium. frown The screen comes up with "it is now safe to turn off your computer".This is a bit of a pain as I have to hold down the power button on the hard drive for about 30sec before it turns off x) .
How do I get it back???
Many Thanks
Dorne ;(

try going to Control Panel/Power Options. You should see a 'APM' tab, go there and enable Advanced Power Management (i think there is only one option there). It will ask for a reboot and after that your machine should shutdown completely.

If this is not helpful, I will assume that the tip screwed your windows and you had to format, reinstall, setup everything just to come back and curse me! lol
