I'm upgrading my computer tomorrow, new CPU, motherboard and HDD. I want to do a complete reinstall of XP Pro from scratch on my new drive. What I don't want to do is spend hours downloading the updates for XP and IE6 that I've already got on my current machine. Is there a way of copying the updates that I have already downloaded. Are they saved somewhere on my harddrive?

Thanks inadvance

Echo..

Do you use Ghost copy? If so just make a copy of your existing harddrive and restore after the hardware upgrade. This will save your time in re-installing everything.

That would defeat the point of wanting to do a clean install would it not?

Anyway, in future, if you want to keep the downloads from windows update, you can download them from http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp?corporate=true
