Just been having some trouble with ICQ and AIM. When I connect to ICQ I frequently get disconnected and it takes a while to reconnect. Sometimes it doesn't even reconnect at all. This is mostly the problem with ICQ. It does it with AIM as well, but very rarely. However, basically, my ICQ would turn yellow and would prohibit me from connecting. At times, if I restart ICQ, it would connect again, sometimes no.

I really don't understand why this is happening. frown

We are behind a firewall and I connect using the HTTP proxy.. Please post any ideas you guys may have.. Thanks!

Do you have access to the rest of the net while it is doing this? Do you have a fileshareing app running at the same time that may be hogging the bandwith?

Yep I have access to the net, IE works fine, web pages etc.

And no, I don't have any file sharing programs running that would hog up the bandwidth. It does the same when I just have ICQ running and no other Internet required applications running

It's been a while since I used ICQ but dosn't it have multiple servers? A quick google search on "ICQ Servers" seemed to verify this. I would try connecting to a different server. It sounds like its a problem with the server since ICQ is the only application that it happens on. AIM does occasionally lag while logging on so I don't think this is jsut an issue with your machine/setup.

Let me know if changing the server works.
