Im running Windows Server 2003 and whenever I try to play movies divx/xvid/whatever all I get is either a grey screen or inverted colors in the movie. The only way Ive found to fix this is to use a media player that allows you to change the overlay from Overlay Mixer to Extended VMR9(DirectX9). I use ZoomPlayer wich allows me to do this but anything else that doesnt have this option only gives me a grey screen. Ive got full hardware acceleration on, latest nvidia drivers (I have a GeForce3 Ti500), and Directx9a installed. Any suggestions?

I've tested several nVidia drivers on several different machines with different nVidia cards and there seem to be a problem with all of them under Windows 2003 Server.
To correct that (until a compatible driver is out) you can do this:
For Zoom Player
Play a movie, right click on the movie area and select Color Controls.
When asked to confirm enabling it answer Yes.
Set the colors as/if you like.
For Windows Media Player
Go to Tools menu -> Options -> Preformance tab -> Advanced button, and disable Use overlays under Video Acceleration.
Hope it helped

If using Zoomplayer, enabling the VMR renderer works on my 2K3 box
