When use the latest version of LavaSoft Ad-aware(ver. 6.0 build 160) on my NTFS5 formatted XP pro SP1 installed Harddisk drive, the system would on some occasions reset by itself and without any warning message ever pop-up; it occurs during the scanning of the drive by ad-aware.

It seems to be some kind of critical system conflict (might be file system), since the system is very stable hardwarewise beside this problem; I wonder if any of you have similar encounters. In my experience, this is likely to be some kind of critical GPF on certain files that would make the system to be self resetting. smile

Uncheck the automatic reboot under advanced options under my computer properties. If you could post the stop/bsod message, it may help.

A lot of people seem to be having problems with AdAware. Too bad because it used to be a good program, but it appears to be getting worse rather than better.

The good thing is that 'Spybot' continues to be developed, and while it doesn't have as intuitive an interface, it appears to be quite effective. They just came out with a new version.

LOL, where is the automatic reboot button?

There is no BSOD/no pop-up/no nothing, just plain system reboot!

In Windows 2000 (XP should be similar):

Right-click on 'My Computer'
Choose 'Properties'
Select 'Advanced' tab
Click 'Startup and Recovery...' button
Uncheck 'Automatically reboot'
