I originally had my boot drive split into 2 NTFS partitions. I just reformatted the boot partition however now when I try to access the other partition I get an "Access Denied" . I'm assuming it has to do with permissions set by the original WinXP installation, but how do I recover it? Please help!

Log on as an Admin and take ownership of the drive. Then add yourself to the drives ACL or permission list and grant full control.

P.S. Taking ownership is done by going to drive properties, clicking advanced and then the owner tab, select yourself from the list and then ok.

Thanks! Had to mess around with the Sharing/Security options to display the Advanced tab. Talk about screwy...

Simple file sharing hides the permissions tab. In some cases it's easier for people to share folders without having to configure NTFS permissions.
