I'm having problems with GTA3. Namely it's not working smoothly in1024x768x32, it simply glitches sometimes. I've got Athlon XP 2000, 512 RAM, Win XP Professional, Radeon 9700 pro, and that's what suprises me most as it's the most powerful card in the market at the moment and it cannot handle GTA3 in hi-res. What can be the reason for it ? I've downloaded most recent drivers for 9700 pro.

Is your ram pc133, pc100??? ddr?

How fast is your HD - could be it is trying to cache things but your HD or memory is bottlenecking.

once in a while i have that issue after playing for a while (see VAIO specs) it is smooth, then it like jerks, or puases for like 2, 3 seconds, then goes on fine after that.

GTA 3 was buggy as hell.

Even On a Geforce Ti4600 and PC1066 Ram it ran like shit.

Have you copied the 'play' disk into the GTA3 directory? There's also a huge thread about crappy GTA performance here http://www.rage3d.com/board/showthread.php?s=&threadid=33619481 Hope it helps

ENABLE frame rate limiting. GTA3 spikes to real high frame rates then real low alot. frame rate limiting will keep it a constant 30fps (i think), but it should be smooth.

turn off motion blur.

that should help.
