I ve being testing renaming some of the sys files that load on startup (check your ntbtlog.txt) to tweak my win2k box a bit more

I could disable the following files without any inconvenience still.

netbios.sys (beware if you use netbois)
nbf.sys (NetBEUI)
msfs.sys (mailsoft file system)
mrxsmb.sys (samba)
mup.sys
rasl2tp.sys (ras=remote admin service)
raspptp.sys
raspti.sys

If all works well in the next days I delete the calls from the registry.
Just add .bak to the files. If something goes badly wrong use the recovery console and rename the file back to its original name.

Why not just disable the services in computer management the way you should instead of deleting?

Because disabling important services via computer managment can make win2k unable to boot and is hard to fix with your way . Also I didnt mention "delete" but rename.
Another reason is that even when I have netbios or netbeui disabled (and not installed in network connections)
netbios.sys and nbf.sys load anyway.

PD: second time I post this reply. First one didnt show up..
