i know of a program called bootvis which makes winxp boot faster. i was wondering if there is anything similar available for win2k, it doesnt have to be necessarily bootvis, just an equivalent.

thanks a lot guys

You can do what Bootvis does for XP but you have to perform the operation manually for 2K...you'd have to analyze and sort the drivers by hand....not relly worth it, IMO.

It has been said that replacing the NTLDR and NTDETECT.COM files with the XP version of these files may decrease bootup time. You can experiment, but keep a backup copy of the files just in case..

I use an Intel Bus Mastering driver called Intel Application Accelerator(IAA) and noticed about 30% decrease in bootup time. Of course you can only use IAA if you motherboard has one of the newer Intel chipsets.
