How do i keep the desktop clean from anoying program installations and ignorant computer uses, It can often become a Shortcut & User Files nightmare.
What would be ideal for me is if i could set an expiry time for everything on the desktop, that is infinite exsistence for items i want to stay and anything added after that has a life time of 1 week then is automatically deleted from the desktop.
Is there any Apps out there that do that or hell even registry tweaks that might simulate that?
Or could i manipulate the task schedualler to do that sort of function.
All i can think of is a primitive technique which involves using the attribute "Archive" and then a .bat file in the startup folder which deletes (moves or even zips with pkzip) everything which has the certain default file attribute.
Suggestions?
Thanks heaps,
Cheers.

Why not a script that looks at the date of files and moves anything older than x number of days?
Many backup programs and scripts will do this.
