Firewall has been installed in my office. When I type a ftp address in my IE address field. It gets hanged. But when I tried the same in my home it worked fine.

I've got a stand-alone pc in my home.

what would be the problem...

You sound like you know the answer already - the firewall is probably blocking it. You'll need to beg your admin to open outgoing port 21 connections (or do it yourself if you're the admin)...
