i'm using 4.6.0078 and whenever i log into WinXp, Messenger tries to sign in, and then tells me i have an incorrect password. what i need to do to is to cancel it from signing in, then sign in manually (i.e. typing in my password).
this all started happening for no reason, how do u turn this feature off?

try removing it from start up.
start - run - msconfig

uncheck msmsgs
apply
reboot

if you're using Outlook/Outlook Express, there's an option in the Preferences menu, make sure you disable that, too, otherwise everytime you load either app, messenger will load, too.
