Hello.
I recently formatted my harddrive and reinstalled winxp.
I had encrypted files on another drive, and now I can't access them.

And no, I didn't make any backup or export of the encryption key - the key is now lost forever. Just didn't think about it.

Although i'm pretty much sure all is lost I ask anyway as a last resort if anyone knows what I can do in this situation. Those are precious files for me (otherwise I wouldn't have encrypted them...)

Please help!

I'm afraid as the posts in the above link will tell you, basically speaking unless you're part of a domain where certain accounts can get your data back or you've got a backup of your keys on floppy disk then you aren't going to get that data back - tis the whole point of file encryption.

A tough lesson, no doubt.
