Dunno mate - It just works.

Insert CD
Install GTA2
Install patch (not WinXP specific patch, performance patch)
Run game normally (do not use compatability mode)
Play

What error messages are you getting? System specs?

Look for M$ issue Q306676 and download that patch. No guarantee, but that'll be a good start. Make sure to update your video drivers. I don't know about GTA2 specifically, but I do know OpenGL stuff isn't too fun to try.

nah, didn't buy it. Grabbed it off of Kazaa. How big is the peformance patch, and where can I get it? Any idea?

BTW:That knowledge base article is about going into standby with a D3D program running.

Ah, well in that case I can help you no further.
I am totally against software piracy and refuse to help anybody do such things.
I'm sure somebody with less ethics may be able to point you in the right direction.
Sorry but I have principles.

How bif total is your cd 1 and cd 2?
that is why Kazza and that suck, beacuse anything u do choose to grab from there is usually ahcked up to all hell by some newbie who wants to make his own "release" or some crap.

<---- Did download GTA3 to try it - but then bought it cause it was such a WICKED game!

i hated gta and gta 2.!

Game Dir is 75.3 MB, 366 files, 13 folders. If I remember right, it was an .exe file, that extracted it all out, and I had to add the registry key.
