My small home network consists of the following:

- 2Wire HomePortal 1000 running latest software
- My PC running Windows XP Professional, connected to the 2Wire via Ethernet card
- MY wife's PC running Windows 98 Second Edition, connected to the 2Wire via HPNA

Both PC's are able to access the internet properly. I can view shared files on my wife's PC, but she is unable to view shared files on mine.

I have file and printer sharing turned on, the workgroup name is the same on both PC, I do not have the ICF running on the Win XP machine. I have TCP/IP and IPX protocols installed on both PC's.

I want to be able for my wife's PC to access shared files and printers on my PC. Please help.

Have you created an account on the XP machine that has the same username and password as the one that your wife uses on the 98 PC?

Try that first.

OK, I have created an account for her on my XP machine. I assume she should be under Users and under Remote Desktop as well, but feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

The Win98 PC finally recognised my PC as being on the network after doing a search through Network Neighborhood, but when double clicking on my computer name, I receive an error message that says "The device does not exist on the network". (If it's doesn't exist on the network, then how does the Win98 PC know that my PC is there?)

Any ideas?
