in X-Com i use the sound emulator to get the sound to work, but every so often you get to a point where the whole game continually crashes...........you cant get past it......load it up and it crashes again.........
also with Master Of Orion it says i need an EMS file i think it was? so i would appreciate if someone could help me with that

Use VDM Sound if you are not already doing so.
They have a new utility called VDM Loader, it is a nice applet which you can set memory emulations etc. in a much greater detail then NT's own interface.

i use VDMS with X-Com and i get sound but i still have the crashing problem.......the crashing has happened to another game i play but i doubt they are related
i used VDMS with Master of orion.......it works but it doesnt have sound

Hi.
Me also wanted to play wtih x-com ufo1. That was a great game, i played lots of hours with it.
Some days ago i downloaded it from an abandon***** site, and installed the 1.4 patch also (remember, patch for a 8 year old game!)
But it crashes always when i select the position of my first base, after starting a new game.
OS: w2k+sp2 dx8.1b (it also f*ked my games)

I threw together a P100 with 64 MB and a 4 MB PCI Graphics and SB16 and get it over with.
I recommend you guys the same.
