I have a tricky question to ask you people.

I'm working as a computer tech in a College. All the computer labs has Windows 98 right now. We are expecting to upgrade to XP for the next school session.

The good think with Win98 and Poledit was that we could easily force a network connection to gain access to windows and programs. We are using Novell as our Primary Network, so when the Novell login appear, if a student doesn't fill the login screen, he's stuck right there.

Is someone knows a way to disable the "workstation only" box or something that would denied access to XP if there's no network connection. confused

Thanx!

I'm not sure how you would do this with a novell server, but if you make a Win2k domain, it is easy.

Got to Administrative Tools -> Local Security Policy -> Local Policy -> Security Options. There you'll see the setting "Interactive logon: Require Domain Controller authentication to unlock workstation", which you would want to enable. Another setting of interest is "Interactive logon: Number of previous logons to cache (in case domain controller is not available)", which you would set to zero.

Look around at other stuff in there as well, because that's where you'll find a lot of the things you were able to do with poledit.

Thanx CUViper!

You put me on the right track! I'm doing some research to see if Netware offers something similar.
