According to the compatibility listing on the main page, Tyrian works under Windows 2000. However when i try and run it, it exits to the command prompt with:

Runtime error 200 at 0006:301A.

I've tried the usual VDMsound & CLI2NOP but to no effect frown

Tyrian 2000 DOS does not work in 2000/XP. Sorry. frown

I heard that a different ver of Tyrian works but I've never found it or used it. It doesn't even work in emulators such as Connectix Virtual PC so I'm guessing it's a speed/processor problem.

I've managed to download Tyrian 2000... and using VDMsound:

1. SFX Freeze the game on startup
2. Midi can lock up intermittently
3. The game is Slowwww even in Turbo mode.

Still it *does* actually load now, which is more than can be said for v2.0. I'll continue testing to see if I can make any improvements. Guess it's silent mode from now on. frown

wow... i'm new here (hi) and i really hate to bump this old topic, but i did actually get tyrian full version 2.0 to work

tppatch, and moslo running at /32 on Windows XP was my solution, however...

The Bugs:
? No sound
? Freezes on certain occurances (level warp acquire/appearance)
? As with curley, the game is incredibly painfully slow (yes, even on turbo)

any suggestions, feel free to e-mail me at kurtis200200@yahoo.com

all help will be appreciated, thank you

Working with one of the Tyrian developers we finally got Tyrian working with DosBox. Check it out! I haven't tested it fully yet but it looks pretty good.

One of the developers?! That's awesome!

BTW, when you say "check it out", how do you mean...

Yes, through actual reading of forums, i have discovered that my post should have been in the XP section for games, not NT/2000. Sorry for this frown

Hmm, not sure if the official release supports Tyrian. If not I'll give ya a link for the latest binary of the CVS.

That ver of Dosbox probably doesn't support it.

Here's a binary of the CVS from Dec 29th:

Game loaded up fine.

Not sure what your asking?

If you cannot find the thread then do a search for "weekly updated CVS builds".

Are you sure you can't access this thread? http://vogons.zetafleet.com/viewtopic.php?t=3459&highlight=cvs+build

The mypixels forum is a totally seperate forum from VOGONS and the registration is a mess.

ahem.... gotta learn unix now...

btw, this is possibly not lawful, but is there a way i could decompile tyrian into it's text (C variant hopefully) form (to change things such as what weapons are called and add in extra shipediting capabilities)?
