MSConfig items

I know you can add or remove start up items by selecting or deselecting items in MSConfig. My question is. How can you remove the item completely from the MSConfig window? I have removed applications, bu they keep showing up in the MSConfig window.

You have to delete the entries in the Registry (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run- IIRC) or the shortcuts from the Start Menu (Disabled Startup Items again, IIRC) manually.
