Degaussing Monitor ???

I have allways wondered over this,

What purpose is there in degausing & what does the word mean?

Why do some monitors have the option and some don't.

Is it something you guys do on a regular basis?

i don't know what the word means but i can tell you what it does
you know how when you take a magnet to a monitor and it leaves disacoloration well it resets the monitor and removes all that
