Getting the following error all the time in my 2k server in event viewer. What does it mean and do I have a serious problem with DNS?
Registration of the DNS record 'gc._msdcs.dreddnet.com. 600 IN A 192.168.1.2' failed with the following error:
DNS server unable to interpret format.
Any help would be appreciated!

You might be having problems with the underscore in the domain name. Although I did get it to work before, you shouldn't use an underscore inside a domain name. Take a look at RFC1123 for some specs on valid characters, and also try technet.

The domain is dreddnet.com
So there is not underscore in the name.

Thats the only error you get?...Feel lucky. I get about 8 of those 'gc' errors every 4 or 5 days, and they all show up at the same time. Doesn't seem to be causing a problem, but it sure does bug the hell outta me !!

Well after searching thru microsoft's support I found the fix for that. Here is the link... If you don't have the reg keys there like I did, then just add them in to correct the error with dynamic dns.
