I got a new motherboard for my computer. I have Windows 200 Pro installed already. When I start my computer up it says

Check for virus on your computer. Remove any newly installed hard drives or hard drive controllers. Check your hard drive to make sure it is properly configured and terminated. Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption and then restart your computer.

Can someone help me with this. What is the CHKDSK /F?

Its because of the change of motherboard frown Its probably using different ide controllers so it wont be able to properly access the hdd. Best thing to do would be to do a full format and reinstall the OS from scratch. frown

Yep, I vote for full reinstall too.

To the question what CHKDSK/F is; it is the check disk command with the option /fix (errors). It scans your hard drive for file system errors and fixes what it can.

To run it (on windows 2000), open a command prompt ("dos window"), type in CHKDSK/F and on next reboot a check disk is performed. Not likelt to solve your problem though.
