win 98 se and cdrom probs

hello!!!
i am running with win 98 se and i have problems with my cdrom , lg cd-rom crd-8521b ,
i want autorun discs and shows no icon and it also mess up my files , it shorten the extnasion so windows wont recognize them .

under device manager under cd-rom drives, click your LG cd-rom and under settings make sure auto insert notification is enabled, this will ensure autorun works.

as for shortened file names make sure you are not using an ms-dos driver for your cd-rom, check config.sys for any loading of cd-rom drives.
