I have two machines, both XP, connected to a network and would like to get them both to access the internet. But Im on AOL and the built in windows effort for sharing a net connection doesnt work. I used Sambar server on Win2K but it doesnt seem to worek right on XP...
So does anyone know of a proxy server I could use on win XP Pro.

I tried WinGate and it completely phucked up my machine. So that's a no-go. I tried a very small app, freeware, but I forgot the name...did the job

For a simple but effective proxy server you could always try http://www.analogx.com/contents/download/network/proxy.htm Analog X Proxy Server - it's freeware too and doesn't mess up your settings and works under any version of windows including XP. Dunno if AOL will work with it though. Seems a reliable piece of software and only about 250k in size! cool

Lol I was just about to write that, but you got ahead of me! I use the AnalogX proxy as well, it's simple, small and kickass. Supports SOCKS properly (MSN works)

Thanks for that... I might try that proxy... I only have Sambar set up as a HTTP server right now, but I believe that MSN hides its traffic as HTTP to get passed corporate firewalls, and it works on my pc's at the mo thru sambar.
