anyway to reinstall acpi. i've looked can't find anything that says how to do it. i've tried rolling back and restore point. didnt work for me. xp wont let me rollback the driver for acpi.

What do you want to do exactly? Reinstall ACPI? Why would you do that in the first place?
Try to change the Computer Type to StandardPC and then maybe back to ACPI. The first part works but Im not sure about the second...
Anyways if you need to reinstall, then press F5 i think when it asks for 3rd Party drivers in the setup, and select Standard PC.
