Dissabling Device to prevent BSOD from defctive Hardware/Dri

I continually get a BSOD in Win2K SP2 were a reference to 'wdmaud.sys' is made.

Someone mentioned before on these boards that 'wdmaud.sys' refers to "MMSYSTEM Wave/Midi API mapper"

Could i disable some Multimedia Devices in "Administrative Tools --> Computer Management --> Devices" to prevent these Blue Screens. If so what sound would be affected in Windows.
