newbie- video and jpg question

please bear with me on this one- i installed win 2000 to use for a server for my home network of 6 computer and it works great in that capasity. the only problem i have with it is this- i can't get any video's to work and all pictures on web pages come across as a mess of colored static like pictures. i've tries 3 different video cards and nothing seems to work ( g force, vodoo and a new prophet 64 meg ) any ideas??? am i overlooking something. i'm a real newbie to the nt kernal and am real confused on this one!!!

Get Media Player 7.1, QuickTime, and RealPlayer if you haven't.
Media player can be had from Microsoft's Windows update site, Quick Time from Apple, and Real player from real.com
