Yes very annoying. Have you tried using a wallpaper with most of it white ? Only thing you can see in the icon txt is shadows. How can I use for example black text with my wallpapers ? Or blue?

PS: This must be the most annoying feature in WinXP I have found so far.mad

I love that feature smile

Something i find waaaaaay more annoying is the buttons on internet sites while using the luna skin. The "bitmap" gets streched out and looks crappy.

I agree with Zwine, the transparent + shadow effect looks pretty bad when the desktop when the wallpaper is light colored. Because then the txt blends in but the shadow does not. I guess I could disable it and go back to my little 3rd party program I used in Win2k.

I think you can right click on the desktop, and a menu will open. If you select the option that says something like "lock desktop" I believe you will have the Win2K-style backgroundless box around your icon text.

Mine does that, anyway.

Like a previous poster, I rather like the new look.

Just disable the text shadowing if it bothers you.
