Paris Dakar Rally not XP compatible?

The game installs and starts, but jumps to the desktop after the intromovie.

I use detonatorXP 21.81 and the XP dx8.1

Same as Total Annihilation:
Go to the "sounds and audio devices" option in Control Panel and set the "hardware acceleration" to Zero for your sound card..."
