Whenever my computer comes off standby or hibernation my harddrive light stays lit and my system hangs for 20 or 30 seconds when I run something or just open a windows explorer window. I can't restart or reenter standby mode it'll just stop and the shutdown screen forever. And I can't get rid of this unless I power off the system, if I just hit the reset button it'll stay and the windows startup screen forever. Anyone know what the deal is?

i'm not entirely sure, but maybe some of your hardware doesn't properly support standby/hibernation. standby works fine for me, but when i get out of hibernation, everything looks ok, but my keyboard doesn't work!

thats correct. ur hardware needs to be fully compatible with this function. if i use the standby mode in win2k, i can get back and everything runs fine except the sound doesn't work unless i restart the computer. i also have a similar problem with winme. if i use the standby feature, my computer can not get back to windows and i need to restart.

It was my hard drive, it doesn't seem to like ATA 100. Everything works fine now that I turned off ATA 100.

What HD are you using and how did you disable ATA100?

It's the SB PCI 128 that doesn't restore. My PC has no sound after standby unless I reboot.
