cant check mail with ISA server, PLEASE HELP!

i installed the ISA server, got the proxy working for the most part. How do I set it up so that my client comptuers can check mail through SMTP and POP3? I have been messing around with it but nothing i do seems to help. Can someone please point me in the right direction?
