Receiving this message all of a sudden:

"Beta Direct Draw expired"


- reinstalled latest version of Direct X which didnt help.

Seems to be little info on the web re this error message - does anyone know the cause and/or cure ?
I've just reinstalled Win 2k a week or so ago and really don't want to start all over !

When you say "latest version of DirectX", do you mean 8.0a or 8.1?

8.1 is still in beta, and is not an official release yet, so that may be why you're getting that message.

Yep that is why you are getting that message because it is a beta of directx. You need to find a DX uninstaller and give that a try. If it does not work you have no other choice than to reformat and re-install windows.
