Upon doing a clean install of Win2K Pro, it takes the NIC forever to "load" (approx. 1 minute).
I get this message in the Event Viewer everytime I boot:
Dhcp Warning
Your computer has automatically configured the IP address for the Network Card with network address 00207800F6F8. The IP address being used is 169.254.81.229.
Strange thing is, last time I did a fresh install I never had this problem. None of the hardware has been changed or moved.
It's a LinkSys LNE100TX NIC, latest drivers used with both installations.
Thanks,

is it auto detecting it's speed? Or is it set to 10M or 100M p/s?
My old 3com use to do that when I had it set to auto detect speed. Even worse when I had an auto sensing hub, would take like 5min sometimes to work.

Yep, it's on auto sensing, but it was like that before and never did it.

Use an static IP instead! U should get rid of the error message, and speed up the startup!
