beta 2401 and q3!! ERRR!!!

I installed Q3 from the CD. Worked fine. When I run Q3 and try to switch to any diff video mode, it attempts it, acts like it is almost there, then back to desktop with no quake 3 and GAMMA UP THE YING YANG!

What the hell? I ran a copy of q3 I had on my HD with video at 1024X760 and loaded fine. Although I did not attempt changing video mode.

since this rev 2401 of the OS is a very old beta (we are on 2505 RC1 now), and I haven't had this problem running Q3A on my system, I might suggest you update your OS to fix the problem. It has been very stable since v2495.

Are you running in-box or other video drivers? In-box drivers do not have Opengl support, but there is a hack in place to allow Quake 3 to run out-of-box. For best performance you should use drivers from the vendor's website.

just run RC1, quake 3 runs like a charm

actually, this is the first build that plays nearly every game i tried correctly
(half-life and related mods excepted because of mouse problems)
