I have tried and tried and tried to install Win2K on my daughter's Compaq Presario 4814. ( 80MB RAM, 40GB Maxtor HD)

I tried formatting the drive on that machine.... repartitioning it on that machine etc....

The drive works fine in other PC's and the 4 floppy setup reports no errors.

It's just on the reboot.. blinking cursor and "h a n g"

Too bad Compaq's support sucks.. and you can't flash upgrade the BIOS (which has a LOUSY editor and almost NO options)

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Compaq does not make the motherboard, so you may be able to find out who makes it. Look between the PCI and ISA slots to find out. If you can get this info, you should be able to get better info that what Compaq is giving you.
