Has anybody out there got a dvd driver which would work for a asus e608 in windows2000.
The windows2000 one on the disc is complete ****. It will only play 3 of my 10 zone 4 discs.
Thanks.

Go buy a software DVD player, Power DVD or WinDVD are recommended, especially the latter, because I've gotten it to run great. The DVD player in Win2k sucks. As long as you have something above a TNT and a reasonably fast CPU, you should be okay.

I've got Power DVD v3.0 + Gforce2 Ultra and it still brings up an error in most discs.

I stopped using Power DVD, because of the trouble I had getting it to try to work. I believe you can get a trial version of Win DVD off http://www.intervideo.com Intervideo's website.
I just couldn't get it P DVD to work.
BTW, what error message are you getting?

aaaahh, the asus. RPC-1 - plays by hardware all regions. The last one not needing a patched firmware from farzeno (search www.google.com). Yep, lots of DVDs have an improved region code check - maybe that's the error.

search these links:
http://www.google.com/search?q=cache:F83...n+key&hl=en
http://www.google.com/search?q=asus+e608...hl=en&meta=
view the cached pages if the original ones have vanished
if it doesn't help: at least you're not alone...:p
