Wonder if anyone has any ideas on this one.
A7V with two identical Maxtor 30 gig drives on the Promise ATA100
Keep getting the same message in Event Viewer:

Event Type: Warning
Event Source: Ultra
Event Category: None
Event ID: 26
Description:
The driver has detected that device \Device\Scsi\Ultra1 has old or out-of-date firmware. Reduced performance may result.

Maxtor swears it's the Promise Ultra driver 1.60/33
Promise says talk to Asus, Asus doesn't respond.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

On the Maxtors, according to Maxtor yes
On the A7V, the most current Brazilian 1008x

This message has been happening through many revisions and SP's

Since the drives are identical, the message only referring to the 2nd one is what gets me.

Are you using the latest RAID bios? I'm using the latest RAID bios 1008X/FXD dated 5-13-01. It's great! No more data corruption or BSOD when copying between hard drives. Make sure you download the FastTrack drivers from the site aswell. When your system is back up and running and you have the Fasttrack drivers installed make sure you delete the evian.sys file.

I have the Promise UDMA 66 controller. Ive seen that exact message in my event viewer since ive installed 2000. It doesnt seem to affect the cards perfomance so i never worried about it. Ive ran this card on 3 different MOBO's and ive gotten the same message on all 3 of em.

Im glad that you posted about it because i always wondered if other ppl had the same problem. i would jsut let it be.(plus there isnt much you can do about it.)

IF ANYONE KNOWS HOW TO FIX THIS I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW!!

Good Luck, Sparkhard

Have you tried updating the BIOS of your controller (i.e. the Promise BIOS, not the mobo BIOS)?
They are 2 separate BIOS's, and (AFAIK) updating the mobo BIOS does not update the Promise BIOS...

In order to fix the screw-ups with the Promise controller follow my instructions here http://www.amdmb.com/vb/showthread.php?threadid=35497 Asus will never respond to you or try to help you fix your problem in any way. Believe me they won't, so don't even waste your time.
