Help!

My machine has a 98SE partition and a 2K partition.

I can use my 98SE partition without a problem, if the phone rings while I am using it, nothing happens.

I have a problem in my 2K partition. If I boot up and use the machine as normal, if the phone rings, the machine freezes. This can happen at startup, or hours after startup. However, if, after it has booted, I connect to the internet before the phone rings, there is no problem and the machine can be on for days no matter if the phone rings or not.

The situation seems this:

It is a race to see who uses my modem first, either me to dial out or the phone line on a incoming call. If I use it first, everything is fine, if an incoming call gets to it first, I have to reboot.

So, why is this happening and why does me using the modem block the chance of my machine crashing on an incoming call.

Confused, me too?!

Any help appreciated.
