Kingston DataTraveler 4000 G2 64GB Encrypted USB Drive Review @ OCC

Recommended Posts

A news post would be great.

OCC has published a review on the Kingston DataTraveler 4000 G2 64GB Encrypted USB Drive

Here is a quote from the review:

Quote:

â€ÂAs I stated when I reviewed the DataTraveler 2000, I am a big proponent and user of encrypted drives even for personal use, as you never know what someone might do if they got ahold of your personal data. While there are some apps out there that can encrypt data, they are not as secure against cracking and vulnerabilities as a hardware-encrypted drive is. Security aside, when it came to performance, I was blown away. I have used the Aegis Secure Key for a long time and the DataTraveler 2000 for the last month, and I was impressed by their speeds until now. I really thought that the software-based security, even though the encryption is hardware-based, would cut into the speeds affecting the overall transfers, but boy was I wrong. The DataTraveler 4000 G2 was a monster with some impressive read speeds and write speeds that were faster than their advertised speeds. For transferring large files, this drive would be a dream come true. The security was very easy to set up and a breeze to use; I did not experience any issues. While not as versatile as the pin-based systems like the Aegis Secure Key 3.0 and the DataTraveler 2000, it was easy to employ and I never had any usage issues. Furthermore, having the FIPS 140-2 Level 3 Compliance means I can use this drive in my work environment without breaking any protocols.â€Â
