ok.. i just wanted to upgrade my version of gaim because msn doesn't work on there anymore.
i tried to install but ended up finding out that gtk2 was needed.
so i find this webpage and follow instructions..
http://developer.gnome.org/doc/API/2.2/gtk/gtk-building.html
it says to install in the following order:
-pkg-config
-glib
-pango
-atk
-gtk
and i get as far as installing pkg-config and glib.
i can't install pango cuz it can't find the file "fontconfig.pc"
any help would be much appreciated.

Presuming you have the cd's, open up a terminal and as root go..
urpmi update [enter]
then:
urpmi gaim [enter]

It'll update to the latest gaim available to 9.0. Whether or not there are upgrades you can get with 9.1 or 9.2, I don't know..

An easier way might be to go on to MDK 9.2, if it is that important to you. From my experience, there were very few apps or programs I would have traded if, in order to get them, I would have had to leave the stability of 9.0 for the problems I experienced with 9.2..
