** Use DeltaSync instead of mirroring to save sync time.

**

If you rely heavily on our Automatic Mirror Technology (AMT) to give you swap-out copies, try DeltaSync to cut your sync time to a fraction.

------------------------------------------------------------

AMT is great for software-less backups and can give you instant, up to date physical copies of your data as fast as you can remove the Highly-Removable Drive. But, it still takes time to sync up the replacement drive and that time grows with the physical size of the drive. This is because AMT uses a low-level block copy method to make a complete mirror image of the drive including the unused portions or those not recognized by the file system. Thus, AMT can provide you with a completely bootable drive if so desired.

But this is at the cost of time to sync the replacement drive. Our NetSwap systems also offer a newer feature called DeltaSync which is a File-Level syncing mechanism that can be scheduled or started as soon as the Highly-Removable drive is swapped. Thus, only the portions of the hard drive containing live files are synchronized, and furthermore, only the files that need changing. This can reduce syncing time to under a minute in some cases and is not dependent on the drive size whatsoever. And once synced, the stay in-sync providing the same fault tolerance as a mirror.

The requirements to use DeltaSync are:

1. A NetSwap running Firmware 2.13 or greater.

2. Using Network sharing (CIFS or NFS).

3. The volumes must be formatted as either NTFS, EXT3 or EXT4 for the file system.

If you fit these 3 criteria, you could start using DeltaSync today.
